This art print was created for the September 11, 2004 memorial event in New York City, to remember the children who lost a parent or loved one in the terrorist attacks.
"I was hoping the artwork would help them, so that they know they're still cared about," Sam said.
A giclée print of "The Children" traveled with his teacher to New York City (along with other children's artwork) in 2004 to be on display at a gathering for the families who lost loved ones.
The artwork might be displayed permanently in the buildings which will stand where the Twin Towers once stood (click here for more information).
"The Children" won the Best in Show/People's Choice Award from a field of over 175 entries in the 2004 Woodinville Teen Art Show in Woodinville, WA.
